Based in Bromley this charity specialises in providing services for visually impaired children and young people. They have various community based services that are designed to support blind young people live life to the maximum potential. They have several social and peer groups which give blind young people the chance to make new friends and participate in numerous leisure activities.
They are currently recruiting for a physiotherapist to work independently with their clients in Bromley and the surrounding area.
Primary Objectives
To provide highly specialist Physiotherapy provision within their educational and residential establishment for clients with Visual Impairment & additional complex special needs. To be a source of clinical expertise and advice on Physiotherapy provision and work collaboratively with therapists and other colleagues, students, their families, carers and community teams to ensure effective interventions & outcomes. Working at all times to Health Professionals Council guidelines and the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy Core Standards of Physiotherapy Practice.
Key task will involve –
-To independently, plan manage and prioritise a caseload of complex and highly complex cases to meet the individual and service requirements, being professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own work and without direct supervision.
-To carry out assessments and treatments of students ranging from 2-25 years, including the moving and handling of young people with complex needs in a variety of settings, with significant physical effort involved throughout the day
-To accurately analyse and interpret complex clinical and social information from a range of sources e.g. medical reports, Social services and Education reports and integrate it appropriately into Physiotherapy intervention.
-Assess and make recommendations regarding need for physiotherapy for clients or prospective students and provide comprehensive written reports.
-Assess, make recommendation for and monitor the need for specialist physiotherapy equipment both for individual clients and for the RLSB. Ensuring maintenance is carried out and faults are reported. This includes equipment for both the educational and residential settings.
To apply for this role you will need to be qualified physiotherapist and be registered with the HCPC, also
-Clinical experience to include paediatric, learning disability or neurology (specifically brain injury) experience.
-Experience of working independently.
-Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team.
-Relevant post-graduate courses (e.g. Bobath, hydrotherapy, splinting, neonatal development).
-Good knowledge of paediatric conditions such as cerebral palsy, developmental delay, complications of prematurity.
