Name: Peh Yan Soo
Profession: Physiotherapist
Where are you from? Singapore
Current Locum position?
Physiotherapist Band 6, Intermediate Care Team
What do you like about your job?
I work in supported discharge team which facilitates early discharges from hospital by ensuring smooth transition from hospital to community. I see patients in the hospital and follow by providing intensive rehabilitation at home for 4 weeks and I enjoy being involved in the whole discharge process as I get to see their improvements through the different stages. It is also rewarding to be able to see how patients get back to their normal lives in their home environments and what that means to them, in different ways.
Personal achievements within your role?
Act as key worker to patients and be able to create care plans, meeting the needs of the patients and being the main contact for their overall care. It wasn’t easy initially being the main person overlooking a patient’s care plan but I have grew to be more confident after a while and be able to provide a holistic overall view of their needs.
How do you unwind from work?
In my spare time, I like to keep up with my wide interests. I enjoy personal fitness like rock climbing, running, gym, salsa and skiing etc. I am also passionate about personal wellness and have strong interest in complementary therapy like Pilates and yoga.
To keep up with my adventurous spirit, I love to travel whenever I could take time off work and have been to a few places which include most parts of Asia, Europe, Egypt and Australia.
