Each month JustPhysio would like to recognise one of our locums for their personal achievement and commitment to the Physiotherapy service.

Name: Melissa Kelly

Profession: Physiotherapist

Where are you from?
Graduated from Otago University in New Zealand, then moved over to Australia as a new graduate rotational Physiotherapist in a regional hospital in Wangaratta.

Current Locum position? Grade 5 Community Rehabilitation Physiotherapist

What do you like about your job?
I feel lucky that I have a job that I enjoy and that is so satisfying. Being able to talk, listen and help people everyday at work is what makes the job so enjoyable.

Personal achievements within your role?
…. Managing to drive and make it to home visits in one piece … But really it always makes me smile when a patient or their family member thanks you for their involvement with them. Sometimes it can seem like the simplest advice or recommendations, but it can make the world of difference to them!

How do you unwind from work?
Since arriving I’ve realised that there is so much to see and do. I’m really enjoying being a classic tourist with my camera handy and seeing lots of new sights. One of my highlights was watching the NZ All Blacks play in the world cup final at a small Irish pub in Germany. I also enjoy catching up with new and old friends and keeping in touch with friends and family back home.
