Locum of the Month - May 2015

Friday 1st May 2015

Each month JustPhysio would like to recognise one of our locums for their personal achievement and commitment to the Physiotherapy Service!

Name: Teresa

Profession: Physiotherapist

Where are you from? London

Current Locum position? (Job title, Grade, etc.) Band 6 MSK outpatient Physiotherapist

Personal achievements within the role? Being able to quickly adapt to different roles / locations, and just get on with the job

What do you enjoy about being a locum? I love having the opportunity to work in lots of different places, meet lots of different people, and an opportunity to see how different services operate before committing to anything more permanent. Obviously, having the freedom to take a break when you need it is a massive bonus too. It was also great to be able to escape from the administrative tasks which used to take up a lot of my time, and just focus on treating patients again.

Most memorable moment within your career? It’s difficult to think of one specific thing, the best bits are when your patients thank you for helping them – it makes it worthwhile. Finally plucking up the courage to leave a permanent job I had been doing for 10 years to become a locum was also a big moment, and it’s worked out really well for me, so I’m glad that I did it.

If you were stranded on a desert island what 3 items would you take?
1.) My windsurf (but then I wouldn’t be stranded – is that cheating?)
2.) A radio / MP3 player
3.) A really really long book!
