JustPhysio is looking for a Band 7/8 Physiotherapist to work with our client in Buckinghamshire

The Lead Physiotherapist is responsible for ensuring the Physiotherapy Service Strategy is fully delivered and updated as appropriate to reflect current practice.
The aim of the Physiotherapy Service within the Charity is to enable improvement in physical ability and/or maintain existing abilities through varied and imaginative physiotherapy techniques. This includes the use of appropriate aids and appliances to support each person to feel a sense of hope, achievement and to maximize their independence, comfort and self worth.
Key areas

*To ensure high standards and be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of your own work including the management of residents in your care
*Be competent in the comprehensive assessment of the elderly, using advanced theoretical knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology.
*Interpret and analyse clinical and non clinical facts, which may be conflicting, using underpinning theoretical knowledge and experience to identify main problems and respond appropriately.
*Formulate individual resident care plans, using clinical reasoning, current evidence and a range of treatment skills.
*Demonstrate well developed dexterity, co-ordination and palpatory skills for the assessment, therapeutic handling and manual treatment of residents eg facilitation of movement and prescription and progress of programmes.
*Demonstrate a sound understanding of Clinical Governance and Risk Management and ensure its effective application to the work situation.
*Maintain patient confidentiality and dignity at all times.
*Use knowledge to refer to other health disciplines as appropriate for the resident.
*To be responsible for and ensure the management of wheelchair provision, maintenance and servicing appropriate for resident needs.
*To work with the Moving and Handling Co-coordinators to deliver Manual handling training for all staff at induction and annual updates.

Planning and Organisation

*Take a lead role in risk assessing residents for manual handling and hoisting procedures.
*Liaise with the Home manager and other members of the team to plan, organise and deliver appropriate activity.
*Plan and prioritise time to meet both planned and unpredictable and conflicting needs that may arise.
*Report any incidents/accidents or complaints/concerns to the Home/General Manager or Senior member of staff as soon as possible and complete relevant paperwork.
*Maintain accurate, comprehensive and up to date documentation, in line with legal and Charity requirements including the inputting of accurate information into the (Caresys) resident IT system, ensuring compliance with the Data Protection Act


*Recommend appropriate equipment, risk assess and ensure safe use as part of the physiotherapy intervention
*Record and provide statistical information as required, related to activity levels and highlight variances to the Home/General Manager.
*Assess client understanding of treatment proposals, gain valid informed consent and have the capacity to work within a legal framework with clients who lack capacity to consent to treatment.
*Plan and undertake the measurement and evaluation of practice and performance through clinical audit.
*Provide specialist advice, teaching and training to residents, Nursing staff and other members of the team.
*Ensure Physiotherapy Services are delivered in accordance with the agreed annual budget.

Recruitment / Training and Development

*To actively participate in the recruitment, selection and induction of all new staff.
*To provide feedback on performance directly and sensitively in a timely manner whether the issue is positive or otherwise.
*To lead, monitor and coordinate/ deliver annual training and development of good Moving and Handling practises.
*Manage self and maintain own professional development through CPD opportunities/attendance at clinical or non clinical and mandatory training.

Person Specification

*Degree in Physiotherapy or BSc (Hons)
*Registration with HCPC and hold PLI Insurance
*Experience in providing treatment to older people and those living with dementia
*Committed to delivering the highest standards of customer service
*Demonstrate good leadership skills, judgement, problem solving and decision making
*Proactive and able to use initiative
*Able to motivate others
*Experience of care planning
*Effective organisational and team building skills
*Good Communication skills (written and verbal)
*Reliable and punctual
*Demonstrates an understanding and desire to work with older people
*Team player, willing to participate in the training and development of colleagues
*Evidence of post registration qualification or further education continuing professional development
*General computer literacy including email packages and data entry on Microsoft Office systems
