Main Purpose of Job:
*To work as part of the multi disciplinary team to assess, plan, deliver and evaluate a personalised care package that meets the needs of the resident and the high standards expected by our client . To ensure that at all times residents are treated with respect and dignity and that individual's rights to privacy, independence and choice are met.
*To deliver a personalised service to residents that provides physical approaches to promote, maintain and restore physical, psychological and social well-being, taking account of variations in health status.

Key tasks and Responsibilities
*To ensure high standards and be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of your own work including the management of residents in your care.
*Be competent in the comprehensive assessment of the elderly, using theoretical knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology.
*Interpret and analyse clinical and non clinical facts, which may be conflicting, using underpinning theoretical knowledge and experience to identify main problems and respond appropriately.
*Formulate individual resident therapy plans, using clinical reasoning, current evidence and a range of treatment skills.
*Demonstrate well developed dexterity, co-ordination and palpatory skills for the assessment, therapeutic handling and manual treatment of residents eg facilitation of movement and prescription and progression of programmes.
*Maintain patient confidentiality and dignity at all times.
*Use knowledge to refer to other health disciplines as appropriate for the resident.
*Advise the Lead Physiotherapist of any concerns to ensure quality and effectiveness of the care of residents.
*To assist the Lead Physiotherapist with the management of wheelchair provision, maintenance and servicing appropriate for resident needs.

Planning and Organisation
*Take a role in risk assessing residents for manual handling and hoisting procedures.
*Plan and prioritise time to meet both planned and unpredictable and conflicting needs that may arise.
*Report any incidents/accidents or complaints/concerns to the Lead Physiotherapist as soon as possible and complete relevant paperwork.
Maintain accurate, comprehensive and up to date documentation, in line with legal and Charity requirements including the inputting of accurate information into the (Cerrus Saturn) resident IT system, ensuring compliance with the Data Protection Act

Management
*Recommend appropriate equipment for resident needs and ensure safe use of equipment as part of the physiotherapy intervention.
*Record and provide statistical information related to activity levels and highlight variances to the Lead Physiotherapist. .
*Assess client understanding of treatment proposals, gain valid informed consent and have the capacity to work within a legal framework with clients who lack capacity to consent to treatment.
*Manage self and maintain own professional development through CPD opportunities/attendance at clinical or non clinical and mandatory training.
*Provide advice, teaching and training to residents, Nursing staff and other members of the team.


Training and Development
*To provide feedback on practices directly and sensitively in a timely manner whether the issue is positive or otherwise.
*To monitor and take a role in the training and development of good Moving and Handling practises.

General
*To comply with and practice within the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy Rules of Professional Conduct and the Health Professions Council Standards of Proficiency, Conduct of Performance and Ethics.
*To act as a role model for the team by representing the values and beliefs of the profession and that of our client.
*To undertake such other duties as may be required and which are consistent with the nature of this post.
*At all times, to promote the interests of our client and ensure that the culture and ethos of our client is maintained, nurtured and supported.
*To ensure within the scope of your role that you promote health and safety and comply with the requirements set out in the Home's Health & Safety Policy and comply with guidelines for moving and handling residents
*To actively promote the concept of Equality of Opportunity in all day to day activities
*To be aware of and comply with the Home's security procedures

Essential:
*Experience in elderly care physio and dementia
*Experience in respiratory physio
*Willingness to become a Moving & Handling trainer

Desirable:
*Experience in neuro physio, orthopaedics, postural management and wheelchairs and seating.
