JustPhysio has a great opportunity for a senior physiotherapist to work in a long term neuro rehab unit based in Hertfordshire . The home provides residential care for patients with neurological conditions who require rehabilitation. This is an exciting opportunity for someone to make a difference developing the services and be a part of an expanding service.
Summary of the role-
1.To work alongside the other therapists in planning, coordinating, delivering and evaluating the physiotherapy service provided to service users with complex neurological conditions as well as contributing to the treatment and care of service users with respiratory and other diagnoses.
2.To work autonomously in undertaking comprehensive and holistic assessments and treatments of service users and to be accountable for the overall physiotherapy management of service users.
3.To work as part of a multi-disciplinary team through planning, implementing and evaluating service user's care.
4.To play a part in the delivery of training and advice to therapy colleagues and the nursing/care team.
5.To be a part of the 'out-reach' service to other care homes within the corporate group if required.
Role Responsibilities:
1.To communicate effectively with all staff and people involved in service user care in a professional, concise and accurate manner to ensure that information is disseminated throughout the whole team and to promote good working relationships at all times
2.To frequently use highly developed verbal and non-verbal skills to communicate complex and sensitive information effectively with service users who present with barriers to effective communication. Such barriers may include language and cultural differences, hearing or visual impairment, neurological impairment, tracheostomy, pain, fear and anxiety.
3.To determine the service user's understanding of treatment proposals to ensure valid service user consent. To understand and work within a legal framework with service users who lack the capacity and consent to treatment.
4.To be able to ascertain a service user's ability to make decisions and to comply with the Mental Capacity Act Code of Practice at all times.
5.To be responsible for maintenance of accurate and evaluative written records using Problem Orientated Medical Record system for own caseload.
6.To provide comprehensive reports, discharge reports and other supportive documentation to medical referrers and outside agencies.
7.To communicate with other MDT members, family, carers and students to advise and demonstrate practical techniques to be carried out with service users on the units to ensure a '24 hour' rehab approach.
