Our client in Oxfordshire is looking for a Band 5/6 Physiotherapist to join their team .
Our client provides intensive physiotherapy programmes for children and young adults affected by a range of disorders including cerebral palsy, neuromotor and neurological disorders and undiagnosed conditions. The programme is unique to the UK offering rehabilitation, specialist equipment and therapeutic exercises, enabling disabled children to reach their full potential.
Our clients' therapy programme combines traditional mat exercises with the use of a specialist piece of equipment called the 'Spider'. The programme is individually tailored to the diverse needs of each child, ensuring that all children get the most out of the course. It focuses on physical rehabilitation but also responds to the physiological needs of each child. The dual focus of the programme is designed to impact on the physical, cognitive and developmental capabilities of disabled children.
Purpose & Objectives of the job
*Provide specialist intensive rehabilitation for children and young adults with neurological, neuro-motor, undiagnosed disorders, cerebral palsy, epilepsy and other genetic disorders.
*Design and employ patient specific rehabilitation, therapeutic exercises and use specialised equipment (the 'Spider').
*To help patients to maximize their mobility and improve their function.
*Support patients to overcome limitations and increase their self-confidence.
*To support and motivate patients during therapy.
*To help promote patients' wellbeing.
*Assist the rehabilitation process by developing and restoring body systems, in particular the neuromuscular and musculoskeletal.
Main duties or tasks of the employee
*Treat children and young adults with neurological difficulties resulting from illness, injury or disability.
*Devise and review treatment programmes comprising manual (hands on) therapy, movement and therapeutic exercise.
*Review applications of technological equipment.
*Liaise with other healthcare personnel to supply and receive relevant information about the background and progress of patients.
*Refer patients who require other specific medical attention to colleagues if necessary.
*Build up a relationship with patients and their relatives through effective communication.
*Inform patients and their parents or legal guardians about treatments and processes.
*Provide advice to patients and their parents or legal guardians on how to continue exercise programmes at home.
*Give guidance on how injuries can be avoided.
*Keep track of patient case notes and reports.
*Supervision of physiotherapy assistants, supporting their Continued Professional Development.
*Maintain accurate and up to date physiotherapy records.
*Monitor and maintain health, safety and security of self and others.
*Demonstrate leadership skills and contribute to service development and monitoring of standards of practice.
